Donation Drive to Help Singapore Elderly

My name is Jim and I am the Singaporean who reposted the video clip "Bastards bullying Singapore senior citizen" on YouTube.

I was outraged by the actions of the British trio and at the same time I asked myself the reason Uncle Lee is working so hard. I am happy to learn that he has a family and is working as a trishaw rider to supplement the money his son gives him, and also to remain relevant to society. However, not all elderly folks are as lucky as him.

Besides criticizing the 3 bullies, please think about the other elderly folks who are not as strong as Uncle Lee and can hardly earn a living. I read some time ago that some of these old folks can only afford one meal a day.

Like I mentioned on my YouTube post, Singapore and Singaporeans owe their success today to these elderly folks. Yes, our leaders were brilliant but without the support and sacrifices of the common people, nothing would have materialised. Your comfortable lives in Singapore today are fruits of their labour.

I am using the traffic generated by the YouTube clip to try and raise some money for the Singapore elderly.

If you can donate money to a convicted foreigner hacker to pay his fine, yet turn a blind eye to our own elderly, I don't know what else to say. Please help make some sense in Singapore.

To donate to the welfare organisations for the elderly, please go to their websites:

As the above charities don't accept donations online, I am helping to gather online donations (using Paypal Donations) To donate via this method, please click

At the end of 2007, I will send the money collected online to a charity for the elderly. I will post the financial statement and receipt from the charity here so that you know I really did send it. I will update the amount collected via online donations here whenever I am free.

If none of the above methods work for you, just buy some packets of tissue paper from the elderly when you see them!

Whatever you do, don't NATO (No Action Talk Only) :) I really do hope something constructive comes out of this incident.

Any questions or suggestions, feel free to contact me at donation2elderly@yahoo.com.sg
